You might have heard that every Subaru is an AWD model, but are all Subarus really AWD? With the exception of the Subaru BRZ, a track-ready sports car with RWD, all Subaru models come with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Take a moment to learn more about the drivetrain on each of our Subaru all-wheel drive models. Then, contact Subaru South Tampa to book a test drive near Wesley Chapel!

How Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Works

All Subaru AWD models feature Symmetrical Subaru All-Wheel Drive, which differs from other AWD drivetrains on the market in a few ways. Let's take a look at how Subaru AWD sets itself apart:

  • There's less mediation between your engine and the drivetrain. Symmetrical AWD sends the power created in your engine directly to your axles. Most other AWD systems have to reroute power through other components of their drivetrains, which dulls responsiveness.
  • There's less mediation between the engine and the drivetrain, which means there's less power loss, and your engine doesn't have to work so hard to maintain optimum traction.
  • Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive independently routes power to each individual wheel. Rather than wasting power by continuously supplying each axle with the same amount of power, it monitors each wheel for slippage and provides the right amount of power to maintain optimum traction.
