At Subaru South Tampa, we’re always ready to step up and support our communities, especially in times of crisis. This commitment is at the heart of the Subaru Love Promise®. When Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated the Eastern region, Subaru retailers like us immediately sprang into action. Alongside other Subaru retailers, Subaru of America, and local organizations, we assessed the most urgent needs in the affected areas. It quickly became clear that local food banks were struggling to keep up with the surge in demand as they worked to support people hit hardest by the storms. In response, we teamed up with 67 Subaru retailers across the region to launch a $400,000 match campaign to aid the hurricane relief efforts of Feeding America®. Subaru South Tampa proudly contributed $10000 to this initiative. While the immediate impact of the storms fades from the headlines, many of our neighbors continue to face long-term challenges like food insecurity, water shortages, power outages, and limited access to essential services. Thanks to the collective generosity of Subaru retailers and the communities we serve, an additional $18,427 was raised. This brings the total impact to $418,427, or over 4,100,000 meals for those in need. "As one of the nation's largest disaster relief organizations, the Feeding America network of food banks and partner agencies is deeply rooted in communities across the country. Together, our partnership with trusted Subaru dealers has helped expedite emergency food assistance and supplies to people who need it most. We are immensely grateful," said Feeding America Chief Development Officer Casey Marsh.

Subaru South Tampa was proud to Fill A Forester for the Hillsborough Pet Resource Center with supplies they desperately needed. The Pet Resource Center was affected by both Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and they have been at capacity with both displaced animals and animals whose owners could no longer afford their care. When delivering the supplies, the team met Beauty, a nine-year-old terrier that was adopted and returned to the shelter through no fault of her own. We collected both food for the shelter and food for their Pet Pantry that is open to the public to help struggling owners feed their pets, so they are not forced to surrender them. Subaru South Tampa Loves Pets!

Just days after being hit by Hurricane Helene, Subaru South Tampa celebrated October's Subaru Loves Pets ® Month by hosting an adoption event in our showroom. We considered postponing to give the community time to clean up and recover from the storm. The shelter asked that we keep the date as they were at capacity with homeless animals. We are thrilled to say that the community "Made A Dog's Day" for the animals at the event! Our shelter partner, the Mercy Full Project brought almost 20 dogs and one sweet cat and there were over 20 appointments made by adopters to come and meet them! In addition, through Subaru's partnership with the ASPCA, Subaru South Tampa was able to provide Pet Alliance a $4000 grant to help them get homeless animals the care they need to be ready for their furever homes. All adopters also went home with Subaru Loves Pets New Pet Kits, and everyone went home with an ice cream treat, a BBQ lunch and a "Chewbaru" squeaky dog toy. Subaru South Tampa Loves Pets!

This year, to celebrate Earth Day, the team from Subaru South Tampa joined in the restoration project at the Barbara Pedersen Wildlife Refuge in Lake Wales with the help of Polk Forever and our Share the Love Partner, Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation. We mulched the trailheads of the hiking paths, removed invasive vines from pine trees and other indigenous vegetation, used chainsaws to remove invasive trees and repositioned downed trees to provide habitats for woodpeckers, owls and insects. #subarulovestheearth

The team from Subaru South Tampa spent the day with the children who reside at the Florida Sheriff Youth Ranch. Youth Ranch Safety Harbor is home to sibling groups who need a place to grow up in a safe environment as a family. We were able to spend the day with these incredible kids- we had lunch together then everyone was able to choose a brand-new jacket. The staff at the ranch was then presented with enough jackets for every child in their care across the state. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to meet these wonderful, deserving young people. Subaru Loves to Help!

This past October 21st Mercy Full Project took over South Tampa Subaru where we brought over 10 adoptable dogs and invites many families to meet them there. Subarus owner Dimitri and Curry welcomed our volunteers, fosters and Mfp team with open arms. Making this event one of the most successful event we had all year they even had a food tris with free food for all. so now you have adoptable puppies, beautiful fast cars around and food what else could we ask for. We are extremely grateful for how amazing this event was but we are beyond words on how much our community and this Subaru dealership supports our cause to help many more animals in need. We rescue animals from many different situations and although this is a very happy day not everyday its like this in the world of rescue as people hurt them neglect them, But with your support we can continue our mission. Thank you SUBARU SOUTH TAMPA

Metro Ministries provides food, housing, family services, education counseling and much more to those struggling with or at risk for homelessness in Tampa and the surrounding counties. The Subaru South Tampa team delivered socks which were distributed by the Metro BrigAide team to those still living on the streets and then stayed and served dinners to the over 300 families living in their Uplift and Hope Halls. These residences offer families and single women a place to live while they find employment and provide counseling and other services to help them overcome any trauma they may have endured.

Hands On Education is a state-funded vocational training program for individuals with disABILITIES. We provide 80-hour paid internships, to expose our students to the world of work, and an opportunity to gain Hands On experience in various industries. Earlier this year, we approached the service manager, Justin Beauregard, about a young man who was participating in a high school auto repair program. Justin had hosted several of our Hands On Interns in the past, but never turning wrenches in the service department. Justin could immediately smell what we are cooking in the Hands On kitchen. He met with Chris, even though Chris was only 17 at the time. Justin was not concerned about Chris' speech impediment, he simply stated "come back to see me when you are 18 and have your driver's license". Chris was excited about the opportunity to put his schooling into practice, especially at a Subaru retailer, where they service horizontally opposed boxer engines :) Chris waited patiently, and turned 18 in May. We met with Justin and scheduled a date to begin his paid summer internship. The Express Team welcomed Chris with open arms, and he realized that this service department was more like a family. His mother states that "Chris is over the moon about this unique opportunity", and you can see that joy in the big smile on his face. Justin even plans to work around Chris' school schedule during his senior year, preparing him for a full-time career with Subaru South Tampa. Thank you to Justin, the Express Team, and Subaru South Tampa for supporting our community-based program and the individuals we collectively serve. We LOVE that you are focused on Chris's strengths, and not his limitations. You sell and service exceptional Subaru vehicles and you are definitely making a difference in the Tampa Bay community. Welcoming Chris into your family is what LOVE is all about.

For the eighth year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) is partnering with Subaru and its retailers to spread warmth, love, and relief to cancer patients and their families as part of the Subaru Loves to Care® initiative. As part of the monthlong program, Subaru customers and retailers write encouraging messages of hope in-store to accompany cozy blankets—sharing love and warmth with those who need it most. This June, Moffitt Wesley Chapel and its staff graciously partnered with local Subaru retailer, South Tampa Subaru to hand deliver 80 blankets to the infusion patients at Moffitt Wesley Chapel. LLS is honored to have the opportunity to connect with our community of patients in such a unique and intimate way. It takes a village, and together, we will shine light on the darkness of cancer.

During our very first Earth Day event, Subaru South Tampa was one of the first to agree to participate and support the Hillsborough River State Parks’ Respect Your Mother event. Not only did Subaru South Tampa donate $300 for 22 pine trees and saw palmetto, a few of their team members helped plant them in our park, which is undergoing ecological restoration. The Subaru team also joined our Eco-fair with two display cars and a Terracycle® display. We are already looking forward hosting Subaru South Tampa next year. Thank you for your support!

In the month of September 2022, my family and I had a very bad experience through Hurricane Ian which had me on the hunt for a new car. I looked at many different cars at many different places. These places all had very basic customer service with not many cars that peaked my interest. When I arrived at Subaru of South Tampa, I was greeted by very welcoming staff and a sales representative with a determination to help and provide me with a new car that ticked all my boxes. Joseph Misco, my hurricane hero, was amazing. We found my Subaru WRX 2019 and I knew it was the right car for me. My parents had a flight the next day and it was necessary for me to leave Subaru with a new car. My parents reside and were currently in Naples, FL, which I assumed would cause issues as they wanted the car in their name as well. Joe suggested that we could drive to Naples to fill out the paperwork, which was unbelievable. Joseph putting in the extra effort and time meant that I could fulfil the need to get my new car! He was excited and eager to help and was willing to go the extra mile or in this case, 300 miles.

Back on October 23rd, 2022, Subaru allowed Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue at their South Tampa location where we brought over 15 dogs that were rescued and ready to find their forever homes. So many families came and met the animals available and at the end of the day we had 13 successful adoptions. Subaru’s management welcomed us with food and a photographer for the event. Their support is so important and we will always appreciate everything Subaru does for the community. Thank you for the pawttom of our paws…

Heidi's Legacy Rescue was happy to partner with Subaru South Tampa again this year for Subaru Loves Pets! On October 28th, Subaru South Tampa hosted an adoption event with Heidi's Legacy Rescue to help save pets in the Tampa Bay area like Yogi. Yogi came to Heidi's Legacy from a citizen that had found him and could not afford his care. Yogi was very sick and needed immediate care to address his pancreatitis and get his glucose levels under control. After a week long stay at the vet and follow ups, Yogi was ready to be adopted into a new family. Without partnerships like with Subaru South Tampa, Heidi's Legacy Rescue couldn't save as many dogs and cats in the Tampa Bay area.

Leto High School has been blessed for two years in a row by support from Subaru of South Tampa. This year, in addition to adopting several classrooms, they also stopped by to drop off a ton of supplies for our students and teachers. We are so grateful for their continued support. As a Title 1 high school, they are helping us provide resources to students to close the opportunity gap, and we are forever thankful.

Moffitt Cancer Center is grateful for the generous donation of blankets and lunchboxes made by Subaru of South Tampa. The representatives from the dealership visited the cancer center on June 13 to drop off 80 soft blankets that were distributed to patients in the blood and marrow transplant unit. Dr. Fred Locke, vice chair of Moffitt’s blood and marrow transplant and cellular immunotherapy department and the 2021 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man of the Year winner, met the representatives from the dealership to accept the donations, alongside nurses from the BMT inpatient unit. Each year Subaru partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the Subaru Loves to Care campaign to provide blankets to patients currently undergoing treatment. Moffitt thanks LLS and Subaru of South Tampa for bringing comfort to patients with the gift of a warm, plush blanket.

Heidi’s Legacy Dog Rescue received a call in late September about a small 3 year old female Chihuahua, Mocha. Her lower jaw was broken in half. Her injury was traumatic and required surgery. Heidi’s Legacy Dog Rescue stepped up and Mocha was able to have surgery, has fully recovered and has now found her forever home! Because of the partnership with Subaru South Tampa and the Subaru Loves Pets Event in October, Mocha and other pets like her were able to have much needed medical care and find a forever home. Heidi’s Legacy Rescue was happy to partner with Subaru South Tampa this October for the Subaru Loves Pets Event and Make a Dog’s Day. Subaru South Tampa welcomed our team, volunteers and dogs for a fun filled adoption event. Events like these help bring awareness to the rescue and our mission to rescue dogs. In the month of October, 16 dogs were adopted and we made room to rescue 20 more dogs in our foster homes. Thank you so much Subaru South Tampa for helping us save the lives of these precious pets.

Southeastern Guide Dogs is thankful for Subaru South Tampa encouraging their customers to “Change a life—double the donation” through their annual Share the Love event. For the sixth year, Southeastern Guide Dogs has been selected as their hometown charity of choice. This year, we were gifted over $115,000 from this program! During the Share the Love event, customers select one of five charities, then Subaru donates $250 per new car sold to the customer’s choice. But that’s not all. If the customer chooses Southeastern Guide Dogs, Subaru South Tampa matches that donation. Because of friends like Subaru, we continue to provide all of our amazing dogs to people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges—at no cost. Now that’s sharing the love!
