The Subaru Solterra comes with standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and two dual motors, meaning it’s a bit faster and sturdier-handling than the Toyota. Although the electric SUVs are built on the same platform, there are some differences between the 2023 Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X to note. They target slightly different markets. The Toyota is a commuter vehicle, and the Solterra can commute and excels off-road. While the Toyota can come with an AWD upgrade, the Subaru comes standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. What’s more, the Subaru can come with X-Mode. This is a drive mode system, and although many vehicles feature drive mode systems, X-Mode is famously the most nuanced among the bunch. We do know how big the Subaru Solterra is, however. Expect 126 cubic feet of passenger space, and 30 cubic feet more cargo space than the Kia Niro (another competitor).
